The objective of BPERB, for the Professional Engineer designation will be a quality mark for the engineers both within Bangladesh and more importantly at an international level.

Only those individuals who have demonstrated necessary competencies become Professional engineers and can use the title abbreviated as “PEng” This process of branding recognizes the professional capability, status, and competence of an engineer. It also shows a commitment to achieving the international standards of professionalism together with engineering ethics.

The professionally registered status recognizes one’s relevant standards in the practice and education in engineering, which is the technological need of today. Thus they become more employable in public and private sectors with lead responsibility in an advantageous position for career advancement. Bangladesh needs to gear up all its resources and skills with an integrated approach to prioritize the development goals of the government of Bangladesh. Registration of engineers will be appropriate action to facilitate the target achievement.

BPERB is maintaining the register of the Professional Engineers. This will eventually satisfy the requirements of the International Professional Engineers Agreement IPEA, (formerly known as the Engineers Mobility Forum – EMF). The IPEA is an agreement that facilitates cross-border practices by experienced Professional Engineers. In general this means that a Professional Engineer of one IPEA member country will be able to practice in another IPEA member country without being required to obtain any additional qualifications or experience. BPERB is a provisional signatory of the IPEA.
